In cases involving child custody and access disputes, either you or the court may wish to understand the children’s views and preferences and provide them with a voice in the process. In these cases, independent legal representation may be suggested.

Mackenzie clinic offers the services of legal counsel specializing in representing children in these matters. A children’s lawyer will represent children in custody and access proceedings under the Children’s Law Reform Act and the Divorce Act.

Legal counsel may work independently or in conjunction with a Mackenzie Clinic clinician for cases in which there are serious clinical and legal issues and/or cases requiring an expeditious response (e.g. mobility).
